About NACTEL
NACTEL is the premier source of online education to address critical employment needs in the evolving telecommunications industry.
The National Coalition for Telecommunications Education & Learning (NACTEL) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. Members of the NACTEL Executive Board of Directors include telecommunication employers and labor unions representing employees in the industry.
NACTEL Highlights
1997 – First coalition meeting
1998 – Initial funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
1999 – Classes begin at
2001 – First students graduate from the NACTEL program at
2003 – Bachelor’s in Telecom degree added
2004 – Associate’s degree and Certificate in Networking (fiber, broadband) added
2007 – Associate’s degree and Certificate in Wireless Networking added
2008 – Associate’s degree and Certificate in Video Technologies added
2010 – Associate’s degree and Certificate in Mobile Technology added
Today
550 students take an average of 2,500 courses each year
500 students have earned an Associate’s degree
200 have earned a Bachelor’s degree
The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning provides management services to NACTEL and serves as the organization’s fiscal agent.
