Position summary
Responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of communications equipment and services, including analog, data, sub-rate and high speed digital, DSL, VDSL, ISDN, audio and video services
- Use computers to set up electronic systems and applications, and test and install individual services
- Install computer interface cards in customer owned computers
- Configure customer's computer hardware and software
- Install modems and telephone filters and applications to complete DSL and VDSL services
- Interface with other groups to ensure that committed service and test dates are met
- Test the integrity of service prior to customer release
- Work directly with customers to ensure that services and applications are working properly and meet the specifications

- Involves extensive interaction with customers
- May require overtime, weekends and holidays

Skills Needed

- Understanding of basic telephony and electronics

Educational/Experience Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Employer sponsored training
- NACTEL's Intro to Telecommunications and Telecommunications Essentials Certificates are targeted to this job title.
- Passing scores on qualifying exams
Pay range
$51,000 to $85,000, depending on the amount of prior experience, region of the country, the company, and the amount of overtime.
