Communicating has been both critical and evolving since the days of smoke signals and carrier pigeons.  Over the years, the traditional definition of telecom has changed.  What was plain-old-phone-service has morphed into an industry whose components include voice, video, and data.

Telecommunications is essential for a strong economy.  Growth and innovation in just about any industry will be dependent on communication, data, and networks, and the telecommunications industry sits at the core of those connections.  Many industry experts refer to high-speed internet, or broadband, as the fifth utility.  In fact, many experts are viewing broadband access as equally important as other essential services like telephone, water, gas, and electricity.

Due to the rapid introduction of new technologies and services, the telecommunications industry is among the most rapidly changing in the economy.  More people, demanding more communication, at faster and faster speeds will result in continued evolution and growth for telecom.  If you like technology and are invigorated by change, now is a terrific time to be “connected” to this industry.
